Face Off Season 2 : It's Back!

Oleh kerana aku xmo blog ni 2 post je bulan ni dengan itu teterbit lah post ke-3 ni.

I posted last year bout this f/x makeup reality show which I personally think is pretty cool. The guest judge they had were pretty special, 1 episode they had Sean Cunningham ... Sean Freakin! Cunningham!.. (p/s : love that ep)

Anyway the season begun awhile back..it's now ep 7.. so why I'm highlighting this particular ep? Well for starters the challenge is for the remaining contestant to come up with the alien/mutant designs for Total Recall 2012! (oh side note: one of the judges is the fx director for Total Recall 2012; Patrick Tatopoulos). These designs however must be based on the existing 4 concepts created by Patrick.

Early concept design...hell no!

I love this challenge cause it gives us a sneak peek of what's to come...but slowly after Patrick showed the concept design I'm scared for the Total Recall future..the aliens/mutants were just too Alien-ish...TOO Alien-ish. It's more animal than human. Remember Arnie's Total Recall...the mutants were cool!...it has a nice blend of human and animal part..what mutants are suppose to be. But Patrick's design looks more suited for an Underworld flick (he directed one btw), it looks monster-ish.

Fortunately there are a few good creature designs in the end..I mostly like the aliens/mutant designs that stray slightly from the original concept...cause really...mutants don't need to look like a freakin Vampire Monster hybrid...boo! I guess these people wanna cater for this generation of youngsters. I'm putting up some of the final look of these alien/mutants... whaddya think bout it?

One of the more reasonable looking monster

I dig this one...humanoid

Oh as for the show itself..I dig this season..

nah .. all from early feb

Hi!
Been awhile .. I can see tumbleweeds already making their way in my blog. Been busy, and yeah I know that's my typical excuse but honestly I AM busy. I still have a lot of catching up to do (tv series wise) fortunately last weekend was a long weekend..since I'm following US holiday Monday was off..FINALLY!..a long weekend..been waiting for one..and true to my character, I went for a movie each night .. Sat-Sun-Mon. Here's the short review..I'm also adding all movies I saw this month..I'm doing this early cause I don't think I'll be watching a movie this weekend (tapi..Woman in Black...ish!)

The Grey

I love this one..and I knew I was gonna love this one. It didn't disappoint..humans vs nature flicks are regularly good like Cujo or The Edge, now add The Grey into the mix.The flick from the very well made crash scene till end credits was intense!(speaking of credits..there's an additional scene..and baaah I missed it) Then the characters! majority pretty likeable which is good since it's harder to see em get knock off one by one. Lastly..Liam Neeson he is the MAN!..never was a fan but since 2000-ish he's been acting in a lot of good action flicks..and for an old man, he still got charisma and can hold a movie on his own.

Haywire

This one was slightly weird for me...I didn't hate it..didn't love it either. I believe the story is good..it is different but the lack of ..erm I'm gonna say noise..(cause there was a score) made the movie unbearable at times..it was just too quiet! for an action flick. On the plus side..like I said earlier..the movie is different from your typical action flick and the fight scenes were good!...(Lead vs Magneto scene was awesome!)..oh and I didn't like the lead..she had a "poyo" face.

Underworld Awakening

Underworld flicks NEVER fails..very consistent franchise..even the 3rd which lack the presence of the lovely Kate Beckinsale (core reason to watch Underwolrd) was still a good flick. This one..was good..but in comparison to the other Underworld flick prior to Awakening...it is at the bottom of the totem pole. Main problem is that it was too short...and the movie didn't actually accomplish anything. It felt..incomplete...yes I know the ending begs for another sequel but what I mean is that it didn't really resolve any issue. However overall..still a good flick.

This Means War

..it's cute..at times. Love the middle part where the agents started dating Reese...but the ending was pretty blagggh!..it's still watchable though..I only wish that the lead chic wasn't Reese..she's cute an all...but can't they find anyone younger?

Ghost Rider Spirit Vengence

Cam Palat..the end.

Chronicle

Finally I got the chance to catch this one. It's good..I can see why people are praising it. It's a nice change from ur average superhero flick. However I find the hand held style (eventhough clever at times)..pretty distracting , out of place and illogical ..like seriously why they (police/doctors?) need to record the lead dude in the emergency room? Acting and fx was top notch...specially the flying + playing ball in the sky was cool!..even I feel like joining em. Story was also nice. Good flick..recommended.

2012 : Currently Watching

*looking front-back-side
Ok no one around, I can write stuff.
Few weeks have been hard on me, been seriously busy..I don't even have time to watch movies/series I've dl, the only ones I can squeeze in are those 20+ minutes tv series...and sometimes those really really you can't wait to see series. Nway this years tv offerings is pretty neat, from the new series to the ones returning, here's what I'm currently watching (not all but some of the noteworthy ones)

Spartacus Vengeance

It's back! and spotting a new lead(Andy Whitfield died of cancer..sniff). Those who love the previous seasons? should continue .. it's still gory/sexy and the fx are stunning. Though the new Spartacus is not as awesome as Whitfield..he did ok but looks too young though(jambu sangat). And those who moaned when Lucretia seemingly died in the first season?..fret not...she's back! rejoice! Anyway..I'm only judging by the sole episode I've seen this season? but it's not really as compelling as the previous seasons were (gods of the arena was rad!) but like I said..I've only saw 1 episode, who knows what else can the writers come up with next.

Shameless Season 2

This show is fuhhhhnnneeeey. It's a bit over the top..and politically incorrect. Conservatives might wanna stay away from this one, you might not like what you see. But people like me who enjoys a good laugh and not looking for a show with family values or even a positive message..you WILL enjoy this. I also love the cast, everyone picked for the show is perfect..my favorite is Joan Cusack's character..that lady cracks me up!

Revenge

Emily VanCamp is someone you really gotta watch out for..I think she can be one of the it girl in Hollywood soon(if she plays her cards right). In Revenge she plays Emily a girl out for revenge to those who wronged her pa. Show is simple really..but you can't turn away from it, it's addictive..you want to know what she's planning next and how the antagonist (Madeliene Stowe to name one) counter back while still in the dark about the saboteur. My parents also love the show..I guess it reminds them of those Dallas/Dynasty type of shows where everyone is out for something.

Walking Dead 2

Currently waiting for it's return after the midseason break. Reviews were just okay but I think this season is far from okay..I think it's better than the first season specially after that god awful season 1 finale. The first episode of season 2 was intense!, that first act...I was at the edge of my seat..though it did get slightly slower after a few episodes but it made up with jaw dropping mid season finale final scene...I didn't see that coming.

American Horror Story

With a tv series titled American Horror Story how can I NOT stay away...and unlike the other recent series from AMC *cough The Killing...this show at least gives us the chills, a story (The Killing is like watching PAINT DRY!) good acting eh scratch that GREAT acting and some gruesome kills...and how they ended the season.?.woah..that's pretty gutsy move..and weird I might add. Oh I also like how the incorporated one real life american tragedy into the story (It made me google Black Dahlia)

The Ringer

Gellar's in it...hey that's enough for me!..though I gotta admit it's a tad boring..but as long as Gellar's on tv..I'm a happy chap. I guess those are into those old hitchcock noir thriller type of shows..u might actually like this one.
