Let's rock!
Aliens till now remains in my top top movies of all time.
I can watch it multiple times and still not get bored of it.
I've even watched the overly long extended one (which I don't recommend watching more that once)
But what made me love Aliens the most is Pvt. Vasquez .. man she rocks!
Remember Avatar? (of course you do) .. I believe, Rodriguez role is mirror-ed after Vasquez.
Well I don't think only Avatar ..a few more ms macho side kick must have originated from Vasquez cause basically the lady kick ass! Kick Major Xenomorph ass!
And let's not forget her iconic Let's Rock!!!! moment...pwroarr! (this was spoof in one of the Aladdin animated movie ...really funny!)
But my fav moment of all is during her final fight with a Xenomorph ..dude ..I mean the lady went one on one with one of the Aliens up close! ..if her character is still alive I bet she can use that as a major selling point in her resume
RIP Vasquez ..you rock!

Why I love the movies # 4
I watched the movie Serenity first before tackling Firefly Season 1 (the only season). Was intrigued with this band of misfits when I watched Serenity. With abundance of action sequence, crazy witty dialogue that only Whedon can think of and amazing graphics make this a memorable movie experience for me.
But what stood out the most is River Tam , played by the amazing Summer Glau ...miss Glau is such a kick ass action tv (unfortunately) heroine ... she should be in more featured films! Check out the video to understand...the last fight scene was mesmerizing and really well shot.

Why I love the movies # 3
!!SPOILER ALERT!!
Do not watch this epic scene if you have not watched Invasion of the Body Snatches 1978.
Both Veronica Cartwright ( am a fan!) and Donald Sutherland were marvelous in this scene .. I gotta watch this film again to see if it ages well

Why I love the movies # 2
Let me start by saying I got this idea from my fav movie website Joblo ..so this is not an original idea for a blog post and I don't care...but credit must be given.
So # 2 is one of my childhood fav , Goonies .. am a BIG fan of Chunk and Data and recently I bought a Data figurine ..it was hard to choose from the 4 Goonies but Data won in the end...however Chunk still won by having the best scene in The Goonies.
Data beside The Predator |
I normally love to imitate scenes from my favorite movies but I dare not imitate this ... enjoy

Why I love the Movies #1
Am in a bad spot recently , felt so annoyed bout lot of stuff and a good friend suggested to update the blog cause she spots tumbleweeds in it :P ...so here I am back again.
Not gonna be writing any reviews just posting as often as I can bout why I love the movies.
Wanted the first entry to be bout my fav comic movie but earlier I read bout Monty Python and the Holy Grail and automatically brought me to this scene .. I remember laughing at the scene out loud with a bunch of friends...till this day...sometimes I used the same expression and line "I don't know that! - bridge of death dude...so here Enjoy! I know I just did..AGAIN!

X-Men Days of Future Past - "Storm ...Scott ...Jean... remember these names"
tq mix fm .. I really really want this |
And it paid off, DOFP is an awesome flick! I love it... Mr Singer came swooping in and clean up the mess that was made in X-Men Last Stand ...and I tell you he really did fix it! But first lets go to the characters, cause one main reason I love X-men and comic book flicks is cause of the characters...
Prof X Young : McAvoy did great! ...he was the main star in this flick. I've once said Patrick Stewart is born to play Prof X ...well now ...dude can pass the torch cause McAvoy ruled! I also liked that Prof X is put in a spotlight more this time around cause really people nowadays fail to realize that X-Men is Prof X...w/o prof there is no X-men ...even the comics Prof X is rarely mentioned before he was killed off 2 years back during Avengers vs X-men stint....yes Prof X is dead (again!) in the comics
Prof X Old : Hey I love Patrick Stewart as Prof X, he can do wrong in my opinion .. his best scene was his interaction with young Prof ...watch out for that scene cause I teared up a bit during that scene..eh!
Magneto Young : He was menacing! Now that's the Magneto we come to love
Magneto Old : He did not do much this time around but every screen time he had counts
Wolverine : Wolverine is still Wolverine nuff said
Mystique : wow oh wow ... they really gave her a lot to do...to tell you the truth in the comics I never really liked Mystique, specially during my the early years I collected comic...I find her lame. But she has grown A LOT both in comics and movies. I loved Rebecca Romijn as Mystique and thought Jen Law was just too cute to play Mystique ..but my my how I have changed my mind now. It'll be perfect if god can combine Ms Romijn good looks and Jen Laws acting capability to play Mystique..hehe
Beast : He's less fluffy looking now! yay!
Storm : She did not do much this time around ...YES! now go recast her for the next movie.
Kitty : Kitty now has something like a time traveling powers, whoopeedo. This is one of the things that I did not like about DOFP , Kitty's sudden emergence of time traveling powers. What's that got to do with her phasing powers? It'll be easier to just bring in Illyana a teleporter AND time traveler AND sorceress to do that mambo jumbo stuff...oh well you can't win em all. Oh but Ellen Page did good as Kitty.
Trask : Singer should have focus on Trask a bit more. Dinklage is a great actor and can really play a pissed off dude whenever he gets the chance ( ref the last weeks ep of Game of Thrones)
Iceman : he was there ..that's it
Colossus : eh dude is so stiff but whatever
Blink! : I love you Blink! I was always intrigue with this character since I saw her in 1994 and when I started reading Exiles I was impressed with this lady. She has an interesting power and look in the comics which conveyed really really well to the big screen. And how Singer used the character's power was impressive! very well thought out (I guess that's why they didn't use Ilyana for the time traveling thingy)
Illyana Rasputin aka Magik |
Quicksilver : The look aside, Quicksilver was aweeeeeeeesome. I was skeptic at first but after watching DOFP, I was glad to be proven wrong. Dude even had one of the best scene in the flick, watch out for his scene (and again this shows how Singer really know how to use his mutant characters)
Bishop : He did okay, when they showcase his powers...that was cool...other than that...he's barely memorable
Sunspot + Warpath : both are actually the power house of their own respective team (New Mutants and X-Force) and not my favs in the comics ..so I didn't give em much thought. Oh but Warpath looks was really spot on with the X-Force costume he had.
Stryker : Was ok
Havok + Ink + Toad + Some Mutant : Kinda sad Havok wasn't showcased much in this flick but as long as he's there I'm ok I guess (Havok is one of my fav btw) as for Ink .. cool but Toad ...yeeeshhh bring back Ray Park! oh another thing ...chronology wise ..it does not make sense how Toad is in this flick. As for the other mutant...who the heck is that?!!!? I'm still confuse on that one.
Now back to the movie, again Mr Singer did good! He used most of the characters correctly as he did in X-Men and X2 it all seems well thought out, specially Blink's (LOVE YOU) character during the fight. That was really well coordinated.
Singer also brought back the importance of having Prof X around. Logan at one point said to young Prof X to promise that he will keep on creating the X-men whatever the outcome of their impending fight. "Storm ...Scott....Jean...remember these names" ...and yes I shed another tear then...damnit!
Which brings me to the next item I love bout the flick...the monologues..the speech of hope ..they were really well written..some are simple...like that "Storm..Scott..." plea from Wolverine ..but it strike a nerve to this one X-fan here.
And then there's the ending...I really really thank Mr Singer for that excellent ending which made me wanna jump out of my chair twice! screaming like a schoolgirl ...there is justice after all...
So yeah...go ahead people..I urge you...watch it, it a good one ... 9/10
p/s : I saw this flick twice! back to back (no joke)
THANK YOU for coming back and saving the franchise |
Scenes to look out for
*anything with Blink
*young Prof X and old Prof X exchange
*Quicksilver freeing Magneto
*near the end
*after credit scene (you have to wait until the credit ends unfortunately)
*cameos from other medium :)

Ramblings of a mad X-Men fan
Decided to not do work today, boss ain't around so why not...right?
Early this week, Monday to be exact was a holiday..I actually thought it was Memorial Day, turns out it's Presidents Day..whoops my bad ( you'll know why later) So I decided to occupy myself with TV series that some I've been behind with and watch some flicks.
In the evening I decided to watch my least watched X-Men flick, which was The Last Stand. If you've been following my blog from the beginning, I've actually said the movie was so-kay.. but as time pass and with some inputs by X-fans and one of my friends who is a Marvel fan...I ended up hating the flick...A LOT! ...I went on a Twitter Rant the whole movie.,,observe
Yea ..see there, I actually wrote Happy Memorial Day..whoops! |
Okay I know ef you is kinda uncalled for, but me ANGRY |
I did not continue with First Class nor Wolverine Origins..maybe one day before DOFP is scheduled to premier here. I do think DOFP would be at least good, cause it's Mr Singer behind the chair (thank god) but I do have my doubts specially when they made Wolverine the x-chap who went back in time instead of Kitty and also ..AND especially when I saw what Quicksilver looks like, dear god. And my friend did point out that it's kinda risky to add a whole lot of mutants in 1 flick..cause..well..look at The Last Stand...a lot of mutants but really there wasn't much depth to their character (plus the fact they change a lot of their personality..why Psylocke why! ). The new addition though does look good...Warpath - Blink - Bishop look is acceptable , I'm especially excited to see em fighting Sentinels in the flick..oh man..May can't come any sooner. Well until Joss Whedon decides to dabble with X-Men franchise..make my MARVEL!

The Best of 2013 : Part 2 10 - 1
God was so busy, ok let's finish this
Best Scene : Jonah Hill possessed, funny shit
Best Scene : the first heist or big magic show was hella fun...so was the second
Best Scene : The big reveal of the Mocking Jay dress..hot!
Best Scene : The big reveal..yum
Best Scene : The Barrel scene..fun! and well coordinated fight sequence
Best scene : Khaaaaaannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn!!!!!!!!!!!!
Best Scene : Sandra in a fetal position ..beautiful
Best Scene : Do you wanna built a snowman scene was a win for me, I was all awww the whole way...the thought of a lil kid playing alone kinda gets to me.
Best Scene : it involves a running girl and a wire, go figure.
Best Scene : My favorite moment gotta be the scene when Christine (tomboy-ish hair, acted in White House Down) first encounter with the entity ..I was spooked, we didn't see anything but the sheer terror in the kid's eye sold me, would like to also add that when Lily Tomlin was possessed (whoops spoiler) scene was a WIN!
that's it, phew! -n-

The Best of 2013 : Part 1 20 -11
Aaaah The Wolverine, my least favorite X-man that is overly exposed in both silver screen and comics. With that said, I like this one, it's less mutant oriented and at least the continuation from other X flicks are better thought out. It could have been higher up my list if! .. both Silver Samurai and Viper characteristic, powers, look etc followed more closely to the comic..oh well at least Yukio is somewhat similar, you can't win it all.
Best scene : if not for the bonus scene at the end, this movie won't be in the list, I was such an excited fanboy when Prof X popped out..(well that and the fact that this is an X-Men flick)
I had a wonderful time watching this alone at the cinema on IMAX, the IMAX experience made me enjoy the movie immensely ..and then I saw it at the tv screen. Honestly Pacific Rim is best enjoyed at a big screen with Kick-Ass audio system (3D is optional)....the flick is tailor made for it. It is however an enjoyable monster-robot flick. Who doesn't like watching robots and monsters duking (if that's even a verb)
it out. And good choice of words naming the monsters and robots..it clicks.
Best Scene : The brawls were excelent, but Mako's flashback scene during her first encounter with a Kaiju was well made, and sad
The Heat is a fun buddy cop flick with chics in it. Sandra Bullock had played this sort of character before but the addition of Melissa McCarthy made the movie stood out a tad more. Both leads played the role down to the tee. McCarthy's cussing made me blush and Sandra is just a wacky girl next door which I would date, eh?
Best Scene : McCarthy may have stolen the show, but every time that albino cop appears..he made me lol
Once a while there comes a horror (or thriller if you really wanna be technical) flick that totally blows your mind even though it takes your hours to interpret the flick. Stoker is it for me in 2013. All 3 leads played their roles very well. Specially liked Matthew Goode in this one. I don't wanna say more but go watch it.
Best Scene : The opening scene..beautiful
This sounds pretentious but once a year I promise myself to watch a malay flick at the cinema, last year I dunno what possessed me but I saw 3 local flicks at the cinema..1 was average, another made me scream oh god why! (refer post Worst Movie Ever early this year) and luckily for me...another one was a gem. Kil is a gloomy flick which I enjoyed. It's certainly different from your average local flick (eventhough I can smell the ending a mile away), if more local movie makers try something like this I might just go see more local flicks at the cinema. Oh another thing, the two leads ..win! Specially the chic thats ooze that New Girl chic ( I suddenly forgot her name) aura.
Best Scene : the first date, just cause Zara oozes Zooey (yeah I finally googled) during this time
Not an Avengers fan but Iron Man 3 was a fun ride. If this is in fact the last Iron Man flick then It ended well, a good full circle. And good job making us Marvel fans believing The Mandarin was The Mandarin ...really did not see that coming. Some fans hated it, I didn't. Oh I want to add, who swoooned when Gwyneth punch a hole on one of the Iron Man suits??!.. I know I did, the lady is fit!
Best Scene : Monkey in a barrel scene
Elijah Wood is a question mark for me. Sometimes I hate him and sometimes I don't..but I do think he's a good actor. And his portrayal of a shy-awkward-maniac was believable. He nailed it...and the gore, me like! Some scenes are kinda hard to watch but I still dig it. I bet all the feminist in the world hates this flick..blah, to each their own.
Best Scene : When he scalps the lady agent, yoikes dude means business!
I know jack bout F1. A colleague of mine wanted to watch it, so he asked me to tag along. So I did and ended up loving the flick more than the F1 fan. I don't really know how close the movie is to real life and don't even want to check but what I saw from the flick bout the rivalry and some history of F1..I like it. It is much easier to watch AND understand than watching these F1 drivers go round and round during their matches :P. Oh Daniel Bruhl was good, why he didn't get an oscar nod? Weird.
Best Scene : hmm I dunno if there's a best scene for me in this one. It's just all around a well tailored movie.
A lot of fans hated it. I did not, I watch this with an open mind knowing IT'S A BLOODY REMAKE. And I enjoyed what I saw...well except the what in the world is happening last 15 minutes (it involves blood rain..go figure) ..I thing missing though..the scare factor..at first I was kinda afraid watching it alone at night cause I remember watching the original Evil Dead back then all alone which scared the living daylight out of me. It was yikes-able at the beginning but then you get use to it.
Best Scene : Any Mia self inflicted torture scene..I said BRRRRRRrrrr
I like to dubbed Ender's Game as one of the great movie of 2013 that no one saw. Seriously I asked around and no one saw it. Only my cousin and another movie friend saw it..and that's it. It's a good movie bout morals. What is right and what is wrong. And the quote from the beginning of the flick really made me think. I love that quote. Acting wise..the lead kid rules..and also the bully, eh let's just say all the youngsters played their roles well...the veterans though...korang tido ke apa? ..one thing though..I did NOT like the ending...WTF was that?
Best Scene : the final "simulation"
next post ..Part 2 ...are you excited as I am? #tetiba
